Waste facilities opening hours

There are two transfer stations operating in the South Waikato - one in Putaruru and one in Tokoroa. Greenwaste mulching, recycling activities and rubbish disposal takes place at both sites.

Tokoroa Transfer Station and Recycling Drop-off facility

Location: Newell Rd, Tokoroa

Hours: Tuesday to Saturday 9am - 4pm, Sunday 9am to 5pm (April to Sep) and 9am to 6pm (Oct to March)

Also open Auckland Anniversary Day, Waitangi Day, Easter Monday, Queens Birthday and Labour Day.

Important note: Tokoroa transfer station is closed Mondays, except for public holiday Mondays!

Tīrau Recycling Drop-off facility

Location: Patetere Street, Tīrau - at the Downer site.

Restricted access. Hours: Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, from 1pm to 5pm.

Croad Place Recycling facility

Location: Croad Place, Tokoroa
Hours: Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm; Saturday and Sunday 9am to 1pm

This facility no longer accepts all household recycling. It is available for commercial and household quantities of cardboard and paper ONLY.

Thompson Street E-waste recycling

Location: 12 Thompson Street, Tokoroa
Phone: 07 886 8941

This facility accepts e-waste from households and commercial users.

Both Croad Place Recycling facility and the Thompson Street facility are managed by the South Waikato Achievement Trust (SWAT).
