A building consent is granted by a Building Consent Authority under section 49 of the Building Act 2004. It is an approval to undertake building work in accordance with the approved plans and specifications. The Building Consent Authority (BCA) approval ensures that certain work meets the requirement of the New Zealand Building Act, Building Regulations and Building Code.
