Putāruru Skate Park Development Update
The completion date for the Putāruru Skate Park has been delayed due to the recent weather events over summer. The original target date for completion was set towards end of March 2023; however, the new provisional completion date is the end of April 2023.
"We've seen a lot of rain this summer which has pushed back some of the concreting works. The highly anticipated Skate Park is still starting to take shape quickly thanks to the efforts of the contractors,” said Council’s project manager, Joanne Salvacion.
The lower area of the park is near completion with the first transition/flow and volcano finished. Contractor J-Stone also met with the project steering group and local skate park users to discuss parts of the design. An agreement was made to change the current heights of the smaller transitions in the park from 1.8 m to 2.4m. A decision was also made to remove the island in the lower area to include a volcano and kicker ramps instead.
“We’d like to thank everyone involved in our steering group for their advice, support, and involvement in the project. Their passion towards ensuring the Skate Park is a triumph for the Putāruru Community is admired and highly valued.” Ms Salvacion added.
