When it comes to natural hazards, the South Waikato District is a reasonably safe district in which to live, work and play. We are not close to a coastline, so Tsunami risk is minimal. We don’t have volcanos on our doorstep, nor are we on a major fault line.
However, there is some risk from these hazards, plus other more likely hazards like landslides, floods, storms, industrial and pandemic. These hazards have the potential to cause a major disaster in our district.
Living with the risks presented by these hazards are part of our everyday life, so this means you and your family, your workplace and your community need to be prepared.
