Council extends dog registrations payment deadline again
Released: Friday 4 June 2021
Council has again extended the dog registration payment deadline until 31 January 2022.
Dog registrations fees have increased marginally with the standard registration fee increasing by $4 to $169 a year.
Standard rural fee will be $74 and selected owner fee $84.
“To assist dog owners, we have again extended the registration payment deadline to 31 January,” said Animal Control and Compliance Manager Kerry Beckett. “Normally dog registrations need to be paid, or a payment plan started, by 31 July each registration year, but we have again extended this a number of months.”
The penalty for not paying your dog registration in full by 31 January is set at 20%; again this is lower than the normal penalty of 50%.
“We encourage everyone to either get your registration paid in full or contact Council to put a payment plan in place as soon as possible,” continued Mrs Beckett. “Don’t wait months to pay in full or put a plan in place. Come 31 January, a penalty of 20% will be applied on top of your normal fee and we don’t want to have to do that.”
“The extension period gives our dog owners longer than normal to get their dog registration paid and Council is pleased to once again be offering our community this benefit,” said Mrs Beckett.
