South Waikato District Council’s Long Term Plan (LTP) is open for public consultation from Monday 22 March 2021.
“I’m pleased to invite submissions on our LTP,” said Mayor Jenny Shattock. “The LTP is our contract with the community to deliver on our wide range of activities and services. We have captured key information in our Consultation Document which we are encouraging people to read before making a submission.”
“Our growing population needs bigger facilities and more spaces to connect with whanau and friends,” continued Mayor Shattock. “We need to make sure we are looking after our community today and planning for our community tomorrow.”
The average proposed rate revenue increase for the 2021-22 year is 7.7%.
The Consultation Document (CD) outlines our key challenges like changing legislation, growth, solid waste and COVID-19 recovery.
The CD presents options for five key consultation issues including addressing the future of the South Waikato Indoor Heated Pools, Tokoroa Library, Pensioner Housing upgrades, the Putāruru skatepark and how rates are spread across ratepayers.
“We are very keen to hear from our community regarding these exciting future-focused topics and any other comments and ideas you have on other aspects of the CD,” continued Mayor Shattock. “There are a number of public drop-in sessions and public meetings scheduled over the coming weeks.”
A Consultation Document can be collected from the Council offices, The Dog in Tīrau and the Tokoroa Library. The CD, dates for public sessions and supporting documentation is available on Council’s website – www.southwaikato.govt.nz.
Consultation closes at 5pm on Monday 26 April 2021. ENDS. Words: 257
