Tīrau recycling facility relocating to Patetere St

From Wednesday 23 September, the Tīrau recycling drop-off facility will be relocating from Depot St to the Downer site on Patetere St behind closed gates.

Council’s Infrastructure and Maintenance Manager Phil Burt said the changes come as a result of ongoing and escalating problems with illegal dumping at the unmanned current location.

“The clean-up of illegal dumping is funded by all ratepayers and relocating the Tīrau recycling drop off facility where it will be manned and fenced off will provide positive changes,” he said.

“It’s disappointing that the behaviour of a few people can impact the efforts of many who recycle responsibly.”

The opening hours for this facility will be Monday, Wednesday and Saturday from 1pm-5pm.

The final day to use the old recycling facility at the Depot St area will be Monday 21 September.
