Major water main renewal project starting in Tokoroa
Over the coming months, Civtec, who were awarded the water main renewal contract, is set to begin a major project from Tuesday 17 March 2020.
As the lifespan of the existing pipes underground near its end, this project is the beginning of further pipe programmes district wide and will begin with the installation of rider mains* along Baberton Street in Tokoroa.
“The pipes we currently have reached the end of its use,” says Senior Contracts Engineer Christian Roy. “The upcoming installation of the rider main and upgrade of water mains throughout the district are of bigger diameter and a more resilient material.”
Residents in the affected areas will be advised of further details in relation to this project and will be informed of water outages for connection purposes.
The installation of these pipes will involve directional drilling and won’t affect residential driveways however Civtec may request access to private property to aid their work.
Civtec will require an area of the Dreghorn carpark for welding purposes located in the southwest corner near the Baberton St - Dreghorn Pl intersection
Additional construction work is planned for Mannering St and May St in Tokoroa with the completion of this project targeted for mid-July. Civtec will inform businesses on Mannering St when works will begin in order to plan ahead,
Any updates will be made through the Antenno app and SWDC Facebook page.
