SWDC shared service for fuel achieves huge saving
South Waikato District Council achieved a 20% saving in fuel costs for the 2015-16 financial year by participating in the Waikato Local Authority Shared Services (LASS) syndicated contract.
"This is yet another great example of cost savings our Council has achieved for ratepayers by taking advantage of shared services and syndicated procurement arrangements," said Ben Smit, Council's Deputy Chief Executive.
To deliver our broad range of activities and services to South Waikato communities, Council purchased 90,000 litres of fuel during the 2015-16 year, costing $103,000 which includes a saving of $21,500, equating to a 20.8% saving.
The overall savings across eight Councils currently involved was 24.3%
South Waikato District Council continues to look for ways to improve service delivery and reduce costs to its community.
