The South Waikato District Council Draft Gambling Class 4 and Racing Board Venue Policy (Gambling Policy) is open for public feedback from now until Friday 23 March, 4pm.
"There has been considerable interest in this topic in recent times," said John Anderson, Council's Environmental Health Manager. "We are looking forward to receiving submissions from our community during this formal process."
When the Gambling Act was introduced in 2003, councils throughout New Zealand were required to have a Gambling and Class 4 Venue Policy.
Council's current Gambling Policy adopts a Sinking Lid regime. This ensures that both numbers of venues and numbers of machines reduces over time. Council is proposing to retain a Sinking Lid regime.
Submissions must be with Council by 4pm on Friday 23 March.
