South Waikato District Council signs off on Investment Prospectus
The South Waikato District Council signed off on the South Waikato Investment Prospectus - The South Waikato Solution today. The Investment Prospectus aims to put the South Waikato District on the consideration list for businesses and investors looking to relocate or invest.
"Council has long been committed to attracting more jobs to the district and promoting the district," said Mayor Jenny Shattock. "We know we have a great offering as a destination for businesses and this Investment Prospectus gives us further opportunity to promote these advantages."
"The Investment Prospectus is an important tool in Council's economic and district promotion efforts and the release couldn't have come at a better time," said Council's Chief Executive, Craig Hobbs. "In 2016, the district had 1.3% population growth, the first significant population growth in recent times. The year ending March 2017 also saw residential property values grow by almost 36%, the second highest growth in New Zealand over that period."
Mayor Shattock says that businesses no longer need to be located in major cities.
"Advances in the technology and transport sectors have unlocked the regions as ideal locations for business growth and investment," she continued. "This, coupled with the rising cost of living in major cities means more people are moving out of the likes of Auckland and Hamilton to take advantage of the opportunities that lay in areas like the South Waikato.
"Our central location and cost effectiveness relative to other areas makes it a great option for potential businesses and residents."
The Investment Prospectus is available here and will be available soon from both the Tokoroa and Putāruru Council offices as well as a number of other supporting outlets.
