Service above and beyond for Nora Martelletti
Mayor Neil Sinclair was proud and a little saddened to present Nora Martelletti with a bouquet of flowers in thanks for her many years of dedicated service to the Tīrau Community Board.
Nora has been on the Tīrau Community Board since inception in 1989, chairing the Board until 2013 but still remaining a member of the Board for the most recent term.
"Nora has been a supporter of not only her community of Tīrau but of the South Waikato District for many, many years," said Mayor Sinclair. "Nora has lead the Tīrau Community Board with dignity, passion and integrity. She has served on the South Waikato Performing Arts Trust for many years and freely given of her time as a Trustee and a volunteer at all of the Trust's activities at its flagship venue - the Plaza Theatre in Putāruru."
"Her work as an active member of the Victim Support group for the District has meant that she has been available at a moment's notice to aid any who have been the victim of any sort of crime. That, associated with her work as a JP, has meant that the people in the South Waikato have had a woman who has selflessly put the community's needs ahead of her own," continued Mayor Sinclair. "I enjoyed the ten years working closely with Nora on the Tīrau Community Board when the Mayor was a representative on the board."
Nora spoke briefly at the last Council meeting saying that as much as she had given, she had received; community service being a very rewarding commitment.
Council is sure that the community joins us in wishing Mrs Martelletti well into the future.
