Putaruru retains information service
The Putaruru i-SITE operating out of the Waikato River Trails office in Main Street in Putaruru will close on 30 June, relocating services to close by. The Waikato River Trails office is not closing.
The majority of the services provided by the i-SITE will be taken up by Pride in Putaruru (PiP) operating out of the PiP offices next to Council's Putaruru Service Centre in Overdale Street.
A couple of services will be discontinued, said Lee Robertson, Manager of Pride in Putaruru. We will no longer stock Jasons Tourism collateral, favouring instead to retain the AA range of travel brochures and the public internet service will not continue largely due to our proximity to the free WiFi service available right next door at the Putaruru Service Centre.
Mr Robertson also reminds residents that the rural courier service will continue to operate from the Waikato River Trails office due to space constraints.
Services set to continue include bookings for intercity busses and both the Blue Bridge and Interislander ferry service; along with Post Haste for urban deliveries, Fish and Game and Duck Shooting licences, voucher sales, some ticket sales, like Field days for example, and Council's camping permits. The facility will stock a targeted smaller range of brochures.
The Pride in Putaruru team will continue to manage the website www.Putaruru.co.nz, the email address putaruruinfo@xtra.co.nz and the telephone number 07 883 7284.
A key change in service will be hours of operation, continued Mr Robertson. The information centre service will be available Monday to Friday from 9am to 4pm, but we will be closed on weekends and public holidays.
The PiP offices will be the new home base for the information centre and it is pleasing to see that the familiar face of Karen Mathis will be on site on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays; with Mr Robertson himself covering Mondays and Tuesdays.
Mr Robertson is confident that the transition will go smoothly.
Council is pleased to see that the services offered will continue and looks forward to a continued great relationship with Pride in Putaruru, concluded Alison Flett, Community Support Manager.
