Library Link service to launch in Tirau
On Wednesday 1 July Tīrau's new Library Link outreach service kicks off. Operating out of The Dog in Tīrau the WiFi and public internet service is available seven days a week, increasing the Tīrau community's digital access. All other Library Link services are available Monday to Friday.
"The new Library Link outreach service follows its decision to close the physical Tīrau Library due to low user numbers," said Amanda Hema, Council's Community Group Manager. "The service will cater for a number of existing services including book pick-up and drop-off, item reservation, reader's advisory service, information services, online catalogue, free WiFi and public internet."
"We appreciate that some people will miss the physical library, however we believe that an increased level of service can be achieved for the users, many of whom already regularly use other district library services; as the figures have shown."
The Library Link service will be manned by a Council librarian intermittently during a three month transition period as advertised.
Council staff will review the Library Link outreach service in six months to seek further improvements to better cater to the needs of library users in Tīrau.
