Dogs and Fires - consultation open
Council is currently open for submissions on the Dog Control Policy and Bylaw and Open Fires in the Urban Area Bylaw. Submissions close on Monday 7 July at 4pm.
The Dog Control documents detail exercise areas, prohibited areas and requirements of dog owners as guided by central government legislation. Councils are required to have a Dog Control Policy and Bylaw to ensure public safety. It is open for consultation by anyone, not just dog owners. The Open Fires in Rural Areas Bylaw allows Council to control open fires in the district with the aim of protecting people and property.
"Anyone wishing to have their say on these Council documents is welcome to make a submission," said Sharon Robinson, Group Manager Regulatory.
Documents and submission forms are available from Council offices, libraries and its website.
