Council is against cannabinoids
"These legal drugs are a danger to our community and I stand with all my Councillors against their sale anywhere in the South Waikato," said Mayor Neil Sinclair, when members of the community descended on Council today.
Council meeting came to a grinding halt today when Councillors and Council staff joined members of the Tokoroa community in their bid to fight the sale of cannabinoids in our community.
"The Putaruru retail community has taken a stand against the sale of cannabinoids and I see no reason why community pressure won't have the same effect in Tokoroa," continued Mayor Sinclair.
"The devastating effects of these drugs on our adults, youth, teens and in some cases pre-teens is extremely damaging to our community. The Youth Sector Trials in Tokoroa has identified this as an issue and has Council's full support in addressing this issue."
"I have asked Council staff to have a careful look at what enforcement is possible under the Health Act and other legislation and act accordingly," continued Mayor
