Council calls for Friends of the Lake

Council is holding a public meeting to kick off the formation of Friends of the Lake for Lake Moananui in Tokoroa.

"The meeting is open to the public. If you are interested in volunteering your time to maintain and enhance the lake and surrounding reserve, we would like to see you at the public meeting," said Alison Flett, Council's Community Manager. "We will be looking for feedback on what the lake is currently used for and projects for future enhancement."

Council will work closely with the yet-to-be-appointed Friends of the Lake Committee and wider group on an agreed works programme.

Lake Moananui is well used by a variety of people, such as fitness training, dog walking, fishing, playground activity and family picnics.

The public meeting is scheduled for Thursday 2 July at 12.15pm at the Tokoroa Cosmopolitan Club.

"So if you use Lake Moananui, want to be involved in future development and have ideas for further enhancement, come along to the public meeting."
