South Waikato District Council invites residents and ratepayers to have your say on Council's Annual Plan; open for public consultation from Wednesday 16 March to Friday 15 April.
"Council is proposing a 2.9% average rate revenue increase which is lower than what was anticipated in the Long Term Plan forecast," said Mayor Neil Sinclair.
Hot topics that are of interest to many in our community include the Leith Place Concept Plans, Putāruru Concept Plan, traffic and parking in Tīrau, Te Waihou Walkway and Blue Spring and the funding of the Tokoroa CCTV cameras.
"Council is very keen to hear from the community on these topics especially, but welcome feedback on anything else of interest too," continued Mayor Sinclair.
To make a submission on the hot topics and a range of other activities, Council encourages people to read the Consultation Document and complete a submission form. All consultation material is available online on Council's website and from Council offices, libraries and The Dog in Tīrau.
"The district revaluations last year will have an impact on individual rates, some sectors more than others," said Ben Smit, Deputy Chief Executive. "For those living in urban areas the increase in rates you will see will be less than the 2.9% average increase, at around 1%. However for other sectors, particularly dairy farming these increases are higher, around 10%."
Council continues to focus on delivering its strategic outcomes. We are striving to create more jobs through continued economic development, improve district promotion, ensure our organisation is both efficient and sustainable while providing quality services, facilities and regulatory services, enhancing community pride and showing cultural leadership.
