Antenno - finalist in the IDC 2018 Smart City awards - and we need your vote!

The community engagement mobile app Antenno used by South Waikato District Council has been shortlisted as one of the finalists in IDC's 2018 Smart City Asia Pacific Awards (SCAPA) in the 'Civic Engagement' category.

It's a major award which recognises top Smart City initiatives in the Asia Pacific region and provides an annual focus on the latest trends and prevailing challenges faced by the cities, local government and their ICT suppliers in the Asia Pacific region.

Our Council is proud to be named in the award nomination as one of the councils using Antenno, which was created and built by IT services company Datacom.

Council's Communications Manager Kerry Fabrie of said that twenty five percent of the vote is determined by public voting.

"We're urging our community to vote for Antenno. We've seen an uplift in community engagement since we started using Antenno, particularly over the past three months, so we know people in the community like it. Now we'd like people to go online and vote."

The Antenno app is up against three major international contenders:

• Intelligent Civil Affairs System from the Daegu Metropolitan Government and Metropolitan City of South Korea - intelligent chat bot services for a range of civil affairs such as passport, vehicle registration, general civic matters, various festival information, etc.
• CorpPass from the Government Technology Agency of Singapore - Managed by GovTech, CorpPass is a corporate digital identity for businesses and other entities (such as non-profit organizations and associations) to transact with government agencies online.
• eID from the Legislative Council of Hong Kong - eID is a free electronic identity which serves as the single digital identity for authentication when conducting government and commercial transactions online.

"So it's over to our community to get the votes for Antenno coming in," continued Ms Fabrie. "And if you haven't yet downloaded Antenno, now is a great time to do so!

"It's free to users," she continued. "Log addresses that are important to you, such as your home, work, school etc and Council sends you notifications relevant to your address. Recently introduced is a report feature too, so now our community can use Antenno to report issues to Council as well."
