Heavy Rain Warning - Orange
- When: 36hrs from 10am Thursday 17 Apr - 10pm Friday 18 Apr.
- Where: Eastern parts of Waikato region bordering Bay of Plenty (including the Kaimai, Reporoa and South Waikato).
- What this means: Expect 120 to 200 mm of rain inland, and lesser amounts nearer the coast. Peak rates of 10 to 20 mm/h expected Thursday evening and Friday morning. Low chance of upgrading to a Red Warning.

- Streams and rivers may rise rapidly.
- Surface flooding, slips, and difficult driving conditions possible.

- Clear your drains and gutters to prepare for heavy rain.
- Avoid low-lying areas.
- Drive cautiously.
Strong Wind Watch - Yellow
- When: 27hrs from midnight Wed, 16 April to 3am Fri, 18 April.
- Where: Coromandel Peninsula, Waikato and Waitomo.
What this means:
- Easterly winds may approach severe gale in exposed places.
- Damage to trees, powerlines, and unsecured structures possible.
- Driving may be difficult, especially for high-sided vehicles and motorcycles.
What to do:
- Prepare your property by securing items that can be picked up by strong winds.
- Drive cautiously.
