Public Consultation - Fees and Charges 2024-25 & Policies
The consultation period for the Fees and Charges (F&Cs) 2024-25 opens today Wednesday 3 April 2024, and closes Friday 3 May 2024.
Most Council services are funded by a combination of fees and charges (when individuals benefit from the service) and rates. We propose several general shifts in our approach to Fees and Charges for the coming year.
- General across the board increase due to rising inflation.
- Moving towards recovering costs from those who directly benefit from the service where it is reasonable to do so. We need to balance what is funded by rates and what is funded by those who benefit or use the service.
- Depreciation must be factored into the charges so that facilities can be renewed and replaced.
We are also consulting on six of our Policies. These are:
- Rates Postponement Policy
- Rates Remission Policy
- Remission and Postponement of Rates on Māori Freehold Land Policy
- Treasury Management Policy
- Significance and Engagement Policy
- Revenue and Finance Policy
