Putāruru Skate Park completed
South Waikato District Council is very pleased to announce that the Putāruru Skate Park is officially complete!
The physical work for the project started in October last year and has taken ten months to complete. The Skate Park will be officially opened on Thursday 7 September.
“It’s been a long journey to see this Skate Park through to completion. Local tamariki, rangatahi and others in the community have missed the Skate Park through three school holidays, so we are ecstatic to officially open the park to them just before the term three holidays,” said Council’s Project Manager Joanne Salvacion.
The Putāruru Skate Park was officially presented a full Certificate of Compliance on Tuesday 5 September 2023 by Playsafe Consulting Ltd.
Gray Matter NZ was also introduced at the beginning of the project to ensure quality assurance. Gray Matter is no stranger to the South Waikato community and is well known for their attention to detail to ensure Council projects stay on track and up to standard.
“This official signoff is welcome news,” said Ms Salvacion. “We know that there has been some concern raised by just a few people regarding the quality of the Skate Park, but our Compliance Certification certainly says that all areas have been addressed to standard. We have no doubt that this Skate Park is ready for the community to enjoy.”
The Putāruru community has been involved from day one where they opted to go for a bigger and better Skate Park during the 2021 LTP consultation. They were also involved in the design process and throughout the construction of the park. Council is pleased to see the community’s vision come to life and to finally open it to the public.
