Winter hours for The Dog in Tirau
Released Friday 31 July 2020
The Dog in Tīrau that hosts the i-SITE, LibraryLink and Council services, will be closing at 4pm, instead of 5pm, starting from Monday 10 August 2020.
Winter non-daylight saving opening hours for this facility will be 9am to 4pm, 7 days a week.
“Foot traffic through the doors beyond 4pm is extremely minimal,” said Ebony Curtin, Council’s Customer Service and Library Manager. “Some people who work might perhaps be concerned about this slight reduction in hours on week days, but we do remind everyone that The Dog is open on weekends for a range of Council services such as purchasing rubbish bags, paying rates and dog registrations.
“This weekend service is not available in our other towns because Council offices are not open at the weekends, so that’s a great plus for Tīrau residents.”
A reminder also that Council now operates this facility, offering a wider range of council and library services including, but not limited to paying rates and dog registration amongst various other payments, purchasing of recycling crates and rubbish bags, along with library services such as renewing books, the book-a-librarian programme, small selection of popular titles that will be changed regularly and library holiday programmes.
Closing time will change back to 5pm from Monday 28 September 2020 once daylight saving is in place.
