Swim Programmes, Classes and Sessions
Learn to Swim
Please Note: Learn to Swim runs Monday-Thursday 3pm-6.30pm and Saturday morning 8am-10.30am and occupies half of the leisure pool and one lane of the main pool.
During term time, school swimming sessions for water safety may be scheduled at the pools from Monday to Friday, between 9.15am and 2.15pm. We kindly ask you to contact us in advance to confirm the availability of spaces before attending.
Baby Classes
Thursday mornings between 9am-11am, children can start lessons at three months! The earlier you start teaching your child to swim, the better they will swim and the more comfortable they will be in the water. They’ll learn to hold their breath, reach and grab, roll from their tummies to their backs and begin learning to float. Not only is this an incredible bonding experience to have with your little baby, but it is also great for early socialisation.
Term One 2023 begins Thursday 9 February.
- 9am-9.30am: 3 months - 1 Year
- 9.30am-10am: 1 Year - 2 Years
- 10am-10.30am: 2 Years - 3 Years
- 10.30am-11am: 3 Years - 4 years
Toddler Tadpoles
Toddler Tadpole classes are for the littlies just starting out in the water. Build your child's confidence in the water with an introduction to floating, moving and underwater activities. Classes are on every Thursday morning during the school term, from 10am until 11am with an instructor from 10.30am. Normal pool entry for caregiver and baby applies.
There's lots of singing, splashing and learning. Classes are for ages three months - four years old.
Swim Academy
Classes are 25 minutes long and run from 8-10 weeks per term
If your child is already confident in the water and can swim at least two lengths of the 25m pool, Swim Academy is the perfect programme for them. Swim Academy classes focus on stroke correction and building on your child's confidence and skills in the pool.
Your child's first lesson is an assessment of their water confidence and capability. It's also a chance for instructors and swimmers to familiarize themselves with each other.

Adult Learn to Swim
If you've ever wanted to learn to swim properly then look no further than your local Indoor Swimming Pool, right here in Tokoroa. Please enquire at reception.
No pressure, just lots of support. Classes will start with a group assessment to gauge where you're at. Take that plunge and join up today, you're never too old to learn to swim. Just turn up if you're keen.
Timid Sessions
Our timid sessions provide the opportunity to swim widths (11m) instead of the 25m length. They’re aimed at those who are just starting out after lessons or who lack confidence in the main pool. With swimming instructors on hand, these sessions are a safe space to build confidence and improve on a vital like skill. Additionally, these sessions can help adults overcome fear or anxiety related to swimming, enhance fitness levels and open fosters a sense of accomplishment that can lead to a healthier, more active lifestyle.
Ladies Only
Our ladies only swimming sessions will provide a comfortable and supportive environment for women who prefer privacy, cultural considerations, or simply a space to exercise without any concerns. These sessions often promote inclusivity, confidence building and a sense of community among women.
Aqua SPLASH!
Splishy, splashy fun with the inflatables. Aqua Splash is a session for children 8yrs and over, who are confident in deep water. Come and challenge yourself on the inflatable wipe out slide. Join along for a splashing good time! (Children attending will need to complete a swim test to assess that they are confident in deep water.)
65+ Sessions
Swimming for seniors offers various benefits, including
low-impact exercise that’s gentle on joints, improves cardiovascular health, enhances muscle strength and aids
in flexibility. Senior swimming sessions often provide a supportive environment, fostering social connections and promoting mental well-being alongside physical fitness.
Adults Only Sessions
Adults-only swimming sessions offer a serene and focused environment for adults to exercise, unwind and socialise. Perfect if you want to swim uninterrupted lengths for fitness or relaxation. It can also cater to specific needs like fitness training, therapeutic exercises or simply providing a more relaxing atmosphere for adult swimmers. Half the pool will be divided into lanes to accommodate all abilities and the other half will be open for social swimming or exercise.
