Mountain Biking
The Cougar Park Mountain Biking Tracks are located off Mossop Road in Tokoroa. This excellent and well-maintained facility is frequently used by visitors and residents. Off road forest tracks make this home for a number of mountain biking events. There are a number of tracks to suit all levels and abilities with new tracks being developed regularly.
Park Closure: Harvesting Operations
Harvesting operations will be kicking off in Cougar Park starting Monday 10 June. This will take place in various areas of the park, including Cats, PJs Pride, Eastern Passage, and Stream Trail.
During weekdays, the park will be closed until 4pm to ensure the safety of everyone involved. Please be mindful of restricted areas, which will be clearly marked off with tape. These areas are off-limits not just for your safety, but for the safety of the workers involved.
After 4pm each day, you're welcome to enjoy the open areas of the park, including Spice Trails, the Flintstone area, Kahu, Tikitiki, Pokaiwhenua, Go Go Gadget, and Humpty Dumpty. On weekends, the park will be open, but please stay away from any taped or barricaded zones. Again, this is for your safety.
Gate access may be limited at times, so please stay updated on any changes. Security personnel will be stationed at the Newells Rd entrance to assist with this.
The harvesting process is anticipated to continue until Christmas, and the Tokoroa Mountain Bike Club and Manulife Forestry Management are committed to working together to minimise disruption to park users. Additionally, plans are in motion to restore any affected tracks, ensuring that Cougar Park remains an enjoyable space for everyone. We can assure you Cougar Park will come back better than ever!
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation during this time. Together, we can ensure the safety of all park visitors and support the ongoing rejuvenation of Cougar Park.
